Speaking of not so great ideas ...

Ernie ... sit your butt down. I'll bring you more tri colori fiori in a second. I can't believe the little stinker loves it as much as "biggie" brother [what Dru prefers his little brother to call him] does. Funny true story. We bought Dru a case of Barilla Tri colori fiori for his 4th birthday. It might have elicited more jumping and squealing than any other gift. you see, for the months leading up to his birthday all of the local markets were out of it and we were relegated to using "fiore" which is the same pasta, but only one color. The real magic is in the preparation. Perfuming the water with Fines Herbes, plenty of whole garlic cloves, extra vigrin olive oil, then putting frozen peas in the boiling water when there's about 2 minutes to go, then adding chopped ham or canadian bacon, shaved pecorino romano cheese, plus butter and more evoo and half and half at the end and cooking it in the same pot while the "sauce" thickens. it's really pretty funny when Dru brings me a box of TCF and demands I make it. It's even funnier watching him help me. I bet he'll make it for his kids some day, too. Ernie, Ernie, Ernie. What are we going to do with you ? Serve you baked garlic tomorrow perhaps ?

Mama and her boys

Here we all are - I realized there weren't many pictures of me or Dru so I asked Gene to take some! :) Don't worry about the red spots on Dru's legs. He "stamped" himself silly. He thinks they are tattoos. Or that tattoos are stamps. Or something like that. I can't keep up. they are such different creatures -- Dru still loves to snuggle and cuddle and be held. Would stay in our arms for hours. Ernie, on the other hand, squirms and tries to escape the whole time. Until he's not being held, of course.

Caniac Carnival

I am so , like, chill. here I am, watching all those other people standing in line for what I already have. (signatures on my onesie.) Thanks Mimi and Papa for the onesie. I love it! Mommy had Rod Brind'Amour, Chad LaRose, and Aaron Ward sign it for me. It's not big enough for many more signatures, though I'll probably have a few more sign it. What a perfect autum day it was!

Bates Battaglia

Well we went to the Canes practice again today sans camera, and Dru wore his Battaglia shirt (who skates for Toronto now, but who knows whether he'll get traded back to the Canes.) Bates came off the ice by the Zamboni entrance and said hi to Dru (whose eyes were like saucers!) and said, "hi, what's your name?" and then asked who's shirt he was wearing. Then he said, "do you know my name?" and Dru, like a champ, said his whole name. I didn't have my camera or a pen, and he said he had one in his car and that he'd be pulling up in a minute. Then I said, Dru, Give him a high five! And then I said, "I wonder if he knows how to "pow" ... and they did, and Bates was so gracious. We then met his brother, Anthony, and then the signature on the back of the shirt. I only wish I had my camera! When he got back in his car he said, "see ya, Dru!" :)

oh look, I can jump in bed!
