Drop the rosebud. DROP IT!

To my astonishment I looked out and saw a friend. Then another and
another and another! This little group of gals decided to hang out in
the front yard, until, that is, I opened the front door - then they
made their way to the neighbors' yards. They must have heard my post
about bambis and Canada geese ... D'oh!

i just *love* this rose!

it has an almost citrus scent. There are still 5 more blossoms behind
this one. Isn't it grand?

oh dear the indoctrination has begun

The kids were at the Hoffners tonight before dinner. They were cold. This is how it turned out.  Oh dear. Oh dear. Oh dear.

way more stylish than her mom will ever be.

working on a project for Dru's team this morning, gettnig all the pix
burned for his team for tomorrow's end of season party. Saw this. She
is hilarious.

sunday night antics. Lobster mac n cheese, rosemary/thyme/dijon grilled chix, kiddos playing

What fun had by all! Kiddos playing, guys watching football (2 big tvs
setup for all the games!), lobster mac n cheese, grilled chickens on
the barbie, girls dishing, a few glasses of wine and some beers.
Doesn't get much better than this! (well maybe I'd feel differently if
I had actually gotten one of the baked pears. :P)

a couple of roses and Ernie with the fig tree

Someday, when we're eating figs in the middle of summer I'll pull this
picture out to show Ernie. And the roses? Just spectacular. I
planted 20 of them -- mostly end of season, 1/2 alive at best $1.47
apiece at Lowe's on special. I hope they winter well here and produce
even more beautiful blooms next summer.

punctuation. Or a weather map!

Today's game is canceled, the last one will be this Saturday. I just
thought this was a pretty cool visual of the low that's overhead at
the moment. I'm glad it's finally raining, I put down fertilizer on
Saturday hoping for rain that never came!

Hopefully the fields will be good for Saturday's game, Dru's last of the season.

Heritage Prairie Market

I'm not sure who enjoyed this little slice of heaven most. the kids,
the parents, the donkey who got plenty (too many) organic off the
ground apples from the kids or the kids. Not a big ordeal, but a great
place. And the sausage we had for an appetizer was OUT OF THIS WORLD!
It's only about 35 minutes away - not far at all, and well worth the
trip. Pretty, rustic, country. Loved it.

roses

Just some pretty rose pictures. I like these varieties. I planted 20
Mothers Day weekend, only 2 didn't make it (I bought the bagged ones,
they probably hadn't had any wayter to drink in 6 weeks by the time
they went in the ground! Can't wait to see what they look like next
year.

Fwd: Friends waiting for the bus :)

Ernie's friend Avery came over to play while Dee and I made some
tomato sauce to freeze for winter.  it was so special to wait for the
bus with his friend!

the looks on their faces in one of the pictures -- picture me saying, "say SNEEZE" so they all fake sneezed.

ANTS!

Thank God we're not in NC anymore. If I saw this there it would surely
have been fire ants. Instead, it was a swarm of ants on the baseball
field, along the fence. Look at the size of the newly minted queen,
who will lose her wings soon and form her own colony!

Ernie's first day on the bus!

Oh golden bus, how I love thee. You have given me such a gift!
Suddenly I have reclaimed 3 hours in the day.

Ernie was waiting (impatiently) for the bus. The phone call was
Daddy, wishing his son well on the first bus ride - all by himself.
He was a trooper, though he kept saying, when is this bus going to
*be* here *anyway* mom?

<3 I also snagged a very cute video that I'll post. Or you can look
for it on the youtube channel: www.youtube.com/mysanchezfamily

FOOTBALL! (with friends)

Gene and Evelyn showing their Brady, a little Hard Cider, Kenny and
Henry, Ernie and Nolan. What a great day.

mug shot!

this cracks me up! Dru's 3rd grade teacher took pictures of all the
kids with the same background. Dru just happens to have a double chin
his smile is so contrived. What a cute kid. xox love you buddy.
